Örebro Airport is about 12 km west of the city along the E18, but airport transfer depends on the season, flight pattern and whether the special airport bus is running. For everyday city movement, Länstrafiken Örebro is the local and regional public transport reference.

The most important detail for travellers is that Länstrafiken says it does not operate its own airport service to Örebro Airport. The airport bus is handled separately through FlixBus / LetsGoByBus during certain periods, while ordinary Länstrafiken bus options use nearby stops such as Sanna gruva rather than a terminal-door airport shuttle. Taxi, Uber or a prebooked private transfer can be the most reliable choice for early and late flights. For rail arrivals, Örebro Centralstation at Östra Bangatan 1 is the main anchor, and the city centre is close enough for walking, a short bus ride or taxi depending on luggage.

Arrival Strategy

Örebro is easiest when you treat Resecentrum as the central transport machine. Trains arrive at Örebro Centralstation. City and regional buses use the Resecentrum stop area. FlixBus lists Örebro Resecentrum Läge X for long-distance road services. From there, the old town, castle, hotels, university buses and local routes are straightforward.

The airport requires more care. Örebro Airport is close by car, but the public transport pattern is not the same as a major airport with a frequent municipal route to the terminal. During selected periods, the airport page lists a bus transfer between Örebro Airport and Örebro Resecentrum operated by LetsGoByBus and sold through FlixBus. Länstrafiken’s own airport-bus page says it does not run the airport service and points passengers to FlixBus during certain summer days. At other times, taxi/app ride, private transfer, rental car or a nearby local bus stop may be the realistic option.

If you arrive by train from Stockholm, Gothenburg, Västerås, Hallsberg or regional destinations, stay near Centralstation/Resecentrum for logistics or closer to the castle/centre for atmosphere. If you fly into Stockholm Arlanda instead, compare train and FlixBus to Örebro before booking a private transfer; Arlanda is far enough that taxi should be a special-case option, not the default.

Örebro Airport

Airport role and contact

Örebro Airport is an important regional and cargo airport, but visitor air service can be seasonal or route-specific. The official airport homepage describes it as Sweden’s fourth-largest cargo airport and gives passenger sections such as destinations, parking, opening hours and contact. The postal address is Örebro Läns Flygplats, 705 94 Örebro, Sweden.

Use the airport site for current departures, seasonal destinations and transfer notes. Do not rely on a generic airport-distance statement alone. If your trip uses ORB, check whether your flight date has a matching bus transfer, whether the flight is a charter/leisure departure, and how you will return to the city if the arrival is late.

Airport bus and local bus reality

The airport’s flygbuss page says bus transfer CSE262 operates between Örebro Airport and Örebro Resecentrum from 30 March to 28 September, adapted to Ryanair London flights, operated by LetsGoByBus, with ticket via FlixBus at 161 SEK or 150 SEK onboard. The same page points travellers to the travel planner for onward Swedish rail or bus travel. Länstrafiken’s airport-bus page says clearly that Länstrafiken does not operate traffic to the airport, but passengers can use FlixBus from Örebro Resecentrum stop X on certain days during the summer period.

This is the sentence that should shape the guide: check the airport page for the special bus before promising public airport transport. If it is running on your flight date, it is the cleanest non-car option. If it is not, move to taxi/app, private transfer, rental car or a local route near the airport.

Route data also shows Länstrafiken bus 620/600 from the Sanna gruva stop to Örebro Centralstation or Södra station, with examples around 19-23 minutes and 43 SEK. That is useful if you are comfortable reaching the stop, but it is not the same as a signed terminal-door airport bus.

Taxi and car transfer

Taxi is often the simplest airport transfer. Rome2Rio examples show Örebro Airport to Örebro Centralstation at about 12 minutes by taxi and roughly 250-310 SEK. The same route pages show driving distance around 14 km. Örebro Central Taxi operates 24/7 and lists phone +46 19 10 15 55 for price proposals. Uber’s Örebro page says riders can reserve rides up to 30 days ahead, including airport transportation.

For an early flight, prebook taxi or check app availability the night before. For a late arrival, do not assume local bus access. For families, the taxi price can be worth it compared with walking to a stop or waiting in poor weather.

Parking and rental car

The airport parking page lists three hours free and daily prices such as 140 SEK for day 1, 280 SEK for day 2 and 700 SEK for days 5-8, with long-term parking open 24 hours. This is useful for regional travellers driving to ORB from nearby towns. For a city-only trip to Örebro, a rental car is usually unnecessary; for countryside, business parks and lake-region trips, it can be useful.

Rail Hub and Örebro Resecentrum

Örebro Centralstation

Örebro Centralstation is the main rail gateway. Jernhusen’s station page gives the address as Östra Bangatan 1, 703 61 Örebro, and lists station opening hours. It also describes the historic station building and provides station-area maps. The station is integrated with Örebro Resecentrum, which is where buses and rail services come together.

SJ’s Örebro destination page notes that the city has two railway stations: Centralstation in the northern part of the city centre and Örebro Södra. For most visitors, Centralstation is the default. Örebro Södra can be useful for the southern side of the centre, university-bound movement or specific local routes, but Centralstation/Resecentrum is the main logistics base.

Resecentrum

Länstrafiken’s stop page for Örebro Resecentrum identifies it as a stop for bus, Citylinjen and train. This is the key interchange for city buses, regional buses, long-distance road services and onward rail. If a hotel says “near Resecentrum,” it is usually a practical location for early departures and late arrivals.

Örebro University also directs arriving visitors to Resecentrum and says travellers can take taxi or bus from there to Campus Örebro. Its student guidance notes that buses from Stockholm and Gothenburg arrive at or near Resecentrum, and recommends Örebro Central as the main rail station.

Rail planning

Use SJ and other Swedish rail operators for live rail tickets and timetables. Örebro is useful for Stockholm, Gothenburg, Västerås, Hallsberg, Karlstad and regional trips. For Stockholm Arlanda, compare rail via Stockholm or bus options. For Gothenburg, rail can be smoother than road services if the timetable fits.

If you are staying only one night and leaving by train, the Resecentrum / Centralstation area saves stress. If you are staying for leisure, the central castle and city-core hotels are still close enough to reach the station by bus, taxi or a walk with light luggage.

Länstrafiken Buses and City Fares

Operator and network

Länstrafiken Örebro is the official public transport operator for city and regional bus travel in Örebro County. Örebro municipality says Länstrafiken is responsible for city buses and rural/regional traffic in Region Örebro County. Region Örebro also identifies regional public transport as one of its responsibilities.

Use Länstrafiken for city movement, university trips, residential districts, regional towns and local fare rules. There is no metro. Örebro is a bus-and-rail city.

2026 fare anchors

Länstrafiken’s price page lists City Ticket Örebro fares. For an adult 20+, a single pre-purchased ticket is 32 SEK, a single onboard ticket is 47 SEK, and both are valid for 1 hour. The adult 24-hour city ticket is 64 SEK. The adult 30-day city ticket is 390 SEK. The 2026 fare-news page says the new prices apply from 20 January 2026 and gives the adult pre-purchased city single as 32 kronor.

This fare structure matters because buying before boarding is cheaper. For a short visitor stay, install the Länstrafiken app or buy in a way that gives the pre-purchase fare. For a day of repeated local rides, the 24-hour ticket can pay off quickly. For a longer stay, compare the 30-day ticket.

App and payment

Länstrafiken’s app page says single and season tickets can be bought in the app, and that the ticket becomes valid as soon as it is bought. Payment methods include Swish, debit or credit card and Klarna. The Google Play listing describes trip planning, mobile tickets, real-time departures, downloadable timetables and service disruption information.

Buy before boarding when possible. If you must buy onboard, expect the higher onboard fare. Keep the active ticket visible until the ride is complete.

Long-Distance Road Travel

FlixBus and Resecentrum

FlixBus lists Örebro with a stop at Örebro Resecentrum Läge X. The same network sells long-distance routes such as Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Örebro, where FlixBus says the bus distance is about 153 miles, the fastest trip takes around 3h35, and there are daily rides. It also lists Örebro to Stockholm Arlanda at about 3h50 in the opposite direction.

For airport alternatives, this matters. If the flight into ORB is not useful, Stockholm Arlanda can be a practical gateway, with train or FlixBus onward to Örebro. For early or late Arlanda connections, compare arrival time at Resecentrum and hotel check-in.

Regional routes

Länstrafiken handles many regional bus routes around Örebro County, while rail handles several main corridors. Use Resrobot, SJ and Länstrafiken together when comparing regional travel. For small towns, regional bus may be the only direct option. For Stockholm/Gothenburg-style routes, rail is often more comfortable.

Taxis, Uber and Private Transfers

Local taxi

Örebro Central Taxi says it offers 24/7 transport and gives phone +46 19 10 15 55 for trip price proposals. Use local taxi for airport transfers, late arrivals, university trips with luggage, business parks, hospitals and suburban addresses. At the station, taxis are most useful when weather is poor or luggage is heavy.

Uber

Uber has an Örebro city page and says rides can be reserved up to 30 days ahead for airport transfers, restaurant trips and other travel. Treat Uber as an app option to check, not a guaranteed replacement for every local taxi. Availability can vary by hour, demand and location.

Private transfer

Private transfers are useful for Arlanda, Västerås, Skavsta-style alternatives, business travel, groups and remote rural addresses. They are usually overkill for Örebro Airport to the city because ORB is close. For Stockholm Arlanda to Örebro, private transfer can be expensive; compare rail and FlixBus first.

Where to Stay for Easy Movement

Resecentrum and Centralstation

Stay here for early trains, late arrivals, long-distance road services and simple local buses. It is the most practical transport base.

City centre and castle area

Stay here for restaurants, walking, culture and a more attractive first visit. The station remains close by bus, taxi or a manageable walk with light luggage.

University and Almby side

Choose this side for Örebro University, conferences or campus activity. Use Länstrafiken buses from Resecentrum or taxi/app for luggage.

Airport side

Airport-side lodging only makes sense for very early ORB departures, late arrivals, air cargo/business activity or driving trips. Most visitors should stay in town.

Regional base

If exploring Örebro County, choose a base by the daily route: rail-friendly if using trains, Resecentrum if mixing regional buses, or car-based if visiting rural lakes and countryside.
