Wrocław Transport Hub
Wrocław works best when you treat the main railway station and the bus station as one connected transport district. Wrocław Główny is the rail anchor, Dworzec Wrocław / Wroclavia bus station is next door on Sucha 1, and Wrocław Airport (WRO) is about 10 km west/south-west of the centre with a direct city bus to the station area.
This guide is built for practical arrival planning: which airport bus to take, where the bus station actually is, what a taxi or Bolt ride should roughly cost, which public transport tickets matter, and how to choose between bus, tram, taxi and walking after you arrive.

Wrocław Airport WRO
Full name: Wrocław Nicolaus Copernicus Airport / Port Lotniczy Wrocław.
Address: ul. Graniczna 190, 54-530 Wrocław.
Best for: all commercial air arrivals to Wrocław, direct bus access to the central station, regional Lower Silesia trips by car.
Wrocław Airport is close enough that both public bus and taxi/app ride make sense. The airport’s own transport page says it is about 10 km from the city centre and about half an hour by car. There is no airport rail line in service for regular passenger transfers, so the real choices are city bus, taxi, ride-hailing, airport express/coach where available, or rental car.
Public bus from WRO to the city
The official airport page lists three city bus lines:
- Day line 106: Port Lotniczy to Dworzec Główny (Dworcowa), the central railway station area. This is the main public transport choice for most visitors.
- Day line 129: Port Lotniczy to Poświęcka, useful for north-west/north-side routing rather than a first-time tourist transfer.
- Night line 206: Port Lotniczy to Dworzec Autobusowy, useful when the daytime bus has finished and you need the central station/bus station district.
Bus 106 is the route to remember if your hotel is near Wrocław Główny, Wroclavia, Old Town, the Market Square area, or any tram corridor from the station. The trip is slower than a taxi but much cheaper. For ticketing, the safest airport-bus default is often a 60-minute ticket for 5.20 PLN because traffic can push the trip beyond a short ticket. If you are sure the ride fits 30 minutes, a 30-minute ticket costs 4.00 PLN.
Taxi, Uber and Bolt from WRO
The airport page lists taxis waiting at the terminal and gives Taxi Plus phone numbers: 601 700 824 and 792 344 999. If you need a child seat or special request, the airport specifically advises booking in advance.
Uber and Bolt both operate for WRO. Uber says pickup instructions are provided in the app after you request a ride. Bolt says WRO pickup points may change and should be checked in the app. Bolt’s route estimate from Wrocław Airport to Wrocław Główny lists 14 km, 25 minutes, and about 52.70 PLN for the basic Bolt category, with Comfort around 64.40 PLN and premium/XL categories around 90 PLN.
For normal airport-to-centre planning, use 50-100 PLN as the practical app/taxi sense-check range. The lower end fits a normal app ride to the station area; the upper end covers higher categories, heavier traffic, night demand or addresses farther across the city.
Long-distance bus at the airport
The Wrocław Airport page lists FlixBus services that include Wroclaw Airport and Wrocław DA on some routes. This is useful if you are connecting directly to another Polish city, but for the widest choice of national and international coaches use Dworzec Wrocław at Wroclavia.
Wrocław Główny railway station
Address: ulica Piłsudskiego 105, 50-085 Wrocław.
Best for: rail arrivals, airport bus 106, central hotels, Old Town access, coach transfers at Wroclavia.
PKP lists Wrocław Główny as open 24 hours and located in the city centre, close to the bus station, Wrocław Market Square, hotels and shopping. It is the main rail station for long-distance trains and Lower Silesian regional travel.
Useful station details from PKP:
- City trams near the station include 0L, 0P, 2, 5, 8, 9, 11, 15, 31 and 32.
- City buses near the station include K, N, 109, 110, 112, 113, 114, 120, 122, 125, 145, 146, 325, 602 and 612.
- Airport access is by bus 106 from Dworcowa and by the airport express/shuttle from the bus station area where operating.
- The taxi rank is in front of the station from the Piłsudskiego side, on the parking area by the Post Office building.
- Luggage lockers are in the central tunnel, with PKP listing 25 PLN / 30 PLN / 35 PLN per 24h depending on locker type.
- InfoDworzec is listed as open daily 07:00-21:00; tourist information is listed daily 08:00-20:00.
Use Wrocław Główny as the default arrival point for the city. Old Town is walkable for light luggage, but a tram, bus or short app ride may be better if your accommodation is across the river, around Nadodrze, plac Grunwaldzki, or farther west/east.
Dworzec Wrocław bus station
Official name: Dworzec Wrocław / Dworzec Autobusowy.
Address: Sucha 1, 50-086 Wrocław.
Best for: national and international coaches, FlixBus/PKS-style services, direct transfers to Wrocław Główny.
Dworzec Wrocław is the central coach terminal and is part of the Wroclavia complex beside Wrocław Główny. The official bus station site says the new station opened on 7 November 2017 at Sucha 1 and is located next to the main railway station and city transport interchange around Borowska and Ślężna.
The station layout matters:
- The bus terminal uses level -2 of Wroclavia.
- It has 11 departure stands and 3 arrival stands for national and international carriers.
- On level 0, passengers have access to domestic/international ticket offices and information.
- The station complex includes luggage storage, ATM, lifts and escalators.
- Wroclavia’s official site lists the centre address as Sucha 1, 50-086 Wrocław and phone +48 71 748 30 00.
If your coach ticket says Wrocław DA, Dworzec Wrocław, Wroclavia or Sucha 1, this is the terminal to expect. After arrival, follow signs to Wrocław Główny, city trams/buses, taxi/app pickup, or the shopping centre exits.
Public transport tickets
Wrocław’s city transport is built around trams and buses. The official city passenger guide says tickets can be bought at many stop machines, selected kiosks, and in vehicle machines. Important difference: tickets bought from machines inside trams/buses are encoded on the payment card and cannot be paid for with cash.
Common ticket prices
The wroclaw.pl passenger guide, updated in 2026, lists these standard full fares:
| Ticket | Full fare | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| One-ride ticket | 4.60 PLN | Single vehicle ride without transfer planning. |
| 15-minute | 3.20 PLN | Very short hop. |
| 30-minute | 4.00 PLN | Short city ride when traffic is predictable. |
| 60-minute | 5.20 PLN | Best default for airport bus 106 or transfer uncertainty. |
| 90-minute | 7.00 PLN | Longer cross-city ride. |
| 24-hour | 15.00 PLN | One-day city sightseeing. |
| 48-hour | 26.00 PLN | Weekend-style stay. |
| 72-hour | 32.00 PLN | Three-day visit. |
| 168-hour / 7-day | 54.00 PLN | Longer stay without a monthly pass. |
Time tickets are valid for unlimited rides within the time counted from validation. Validate paper tickets immediately. If buying inside the vehicle with a payment card, remember that the ticket is stored on that card, so you must carry the same card for inspection.
Taxi and ride-hailing apps
Wrocław has many taxi firms and good ride-hailing coverage. For visitors, the practical stack is:
- Bolt: WRO airport support, app pickup points, upfront price, and published WRO-to-Wrocław-Główny estimates around 52-92 PLN depending on category.
- Uber: WRO airport pickup support, with exact pickup instructions and current price shown inside the app.
- FREENOW: useful for taxi-style booking in Poland.
- Licensed street/rank taxi: use marked taxis and check the tariff display.
The city Legal Taxi page is useful because Wrocław explicitly warns visitors to check whether a taxi is legal. Licensed taxis should have a roof taxi sign, side markings with a WROCŁAW number, tariff information, and a QR/legal taxi sticker. The city says the Legal Taxi database is updated weekly.
For street taxis, Wrocław’s city page explains that Poland uses day and night taxi tariffs. Day tariff is 06:00-22:00; night tariff is 22:00-06:00 and also applies on Sundays, holidays, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Wrocław’s maximum taxi rate was raised to 9 PLN per kilometre from 2022, though individual companies set their own prices below that cap.
Taxi price sense-checks
| Route | Planning range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| WRO to Wrocław Główny | 50-100 PLN | Bolt’s basic estimate has shown about 52.70 PLN for 14 km / 25 min; higher app categories run closer to 90 PLN. |
| WRO to Old Town / Market Square area | 55-110 PLN | Depends on traffic, destination side of the Old Town and live app demand. |
| Wrocław Główny to Market Square | Often walkable or a short taxi | Walk if luggage is light; use tram/taxi if the hotel is across the centre or weather is poor. |
| Night airport arrival | Often worth an app/taxi | Night bus 206 exists, but a direct ride can be the smoother first arrival. |
Best arrival strategy
If you land at WRO during the day
Take bus 106 if you are staying near Wrocław Główny, Wroclavia, Old Town, or a tram connection from the station. Use a 60-minute ticket if traffic is uncertain. Choose Bolt/Uber/taxi if you have heavy luggage, children, a late check-in deadline, or a hotel away from the station corridor.
If you land at WRO late at night
Check night bus 206 if your destination is near Dworzec Autobusowy or you are comfortable with night public transport. Otherwise use Bolt, Uber, FREENOW or the airport taxi rank. Confirm the app pickup point before leaving the terminal.
If you arrive by train
Use Wrocław Główny as your anchor. For Old Town, walking can work; for Nadodrze, Ostrów Tumski, plac Grunwaldzki, Centennial Hall or business districts, switch to tram/bus or take a short app ride.
If you arrive by coach
You will likely arrive at Dworzec Wrocław / Wroclavia on Sucha 1. For train transfers, follow signs to Wrocław Główny. For hotels, exit through Wroclavia or the station district and use tram, bus or taxi depending on luggage.
If your route includes Lower Silesia
Wrocław is a strong base for regional rail and road trips. Use Wrocław Główny for trains to smaller Lower Silesian towns; rent a car only if the itinerary goes beyond rail-friendly places.
Car rental and parking
You do not need a car for central Wrocław. Trams, buses, walking and occasional taxi rides are easier around Old Town and the station district. Rent a car if you are heading into Lower Silesia, business parks, castles, mountain areas or multi-stop regional routes.
If you rent, compare airport pickup with city pickup. Airport pickup is convenient for leaving town immediately, while city pickup can be calmer after a car-free first stay in Wrocław. PKP lists parking at Wrocław Główny, and Wroclavia also has large paid parking, but central driving and parking are still less pleasant than public transport for city sightseeing.
