The airport, code OSR, sits in Mošnov southwest of Ostrava. The official airport public-transport page is unusually useful: it names the Airport Express line AE, describes airport rail tickets under the ODIS tariff, and states that tickets can be bought on board by ODISka, Visa, Mastercard or cash in Czech crowns depending on mode. The airport is roughly 20 km southwest of the city. That distance is close enough for taxi, but far enough that the ODIS/rail option can save real money. The best transfer depends on the next stop: Svinov, hlavní nádraží, Náměstí Republiky, Poruba, Dubina or a hotel in the center.

Airport Express and regional buses

The official airport public-transport page names line AE, Airport Express, with the Ostrava/Nám. Republiky and Dubina corridor in its route description. It states that the fare depends on the distance and follows the ODIS tariff, and that bus tickets can be bought from the driver with ODISka, Visa, Mastercard or cash in CZK. A later airport snippet for the same page lists a 32 CZK fare for the line and says payment can be made by tapping a contactless card or ODISka when boarding.

Rail from Mošnov, Ostrava Airport

Ostrava is unusually strong because the airport has a rail point. The airport public-transport page says rail fare also follows the ODIS tariff and tickets can be purchased on the train at a ticket machine with ODISka, Visa or Mastercard, or from the conductor with ODISka, Visa, Mastercard or CZK cash. Do not use that old amount as the current fare without checking DPO; use it as context for why the card terminal has multiple options.

MojeDPO and route planning

The MojeDPO app listing says the app can search connections by location, buy tickets online and provide current information from DPO. For travelers staying more than a day, it is worth installing because it reduces language friction. IDOS is also useful for multimodal planning across Czech rail, regional buses and city transport.

The best visitor workflow is simple: use IDOS or MojeDPO for the route, tap a contactless card in the vehicle unless you already use ODISka, and keep the same card for the journey. Ostrava-Svinov

Ostrava-Svinov is one of the city’s most important passenger rail hubs. FlixBus, RegioJet and route choice

FlixBus is useful for routes where road travel is direct or cheaper. RegioJet is relevant for both rail and road services, with a national booking platform and Ostrava branch information. For Prague, rail is usually easier. For some regional or cross-border trips, road services can be competitive, especially if they depart from ÚAN and arrive closer to the target district.

Center and Stodolní area

Near Ostrava-Svinov

Near hlavní nádraží

Near ÚAN / Náměstí Republiky

Stay near ÚAN if the next departure is a long road service from Vítkovická/Náměstí Republiky. This area also connects well into the tram network, but exact hotel location matters. A five-minute walk on the map can be less comfortable with luggage at night.

Airport side

Airport-side lodging is only necessary for very early flights, aviation work or business around Mošnov. Most visitors should stay in Ostrava and use AE, rail, Bolt or taxi for the airport.
