Lublin Transport Hub

Lublin is a city where the right transport choice depends less on distance and more on which hub your ticket names. The airport is in nearby Świdnik, the rail station is Lublin Główna, and the long-distance coach operation now centres on the modern Dworzec Lublin beside the railway area. Some bus tickets, however, may still point to the older Al. Tysiąclecia stop, so the exact address on the ticket matters.

For most travellers the main arrival anchors are Lublin Airport (LUZ/EPLB), Lublin Główna railway station, Dworzec Lublin at Dworcowa Street 2, and the ZDiTM/MPK bus and trolleybus network. Lublin does not have a metro or tram network. It has city buses, trolleybuses and night buses, plus an airport rail link that can be excellent when the timetable matches the flight.

Best Arrival Strategy

Arrival situation Best first move Why it works
Flight lands at LUZ and you travel light Compare the airport train and bus 005 The rail stop is beside the terminal, while bus 005 runs directly between Port Lotniczy Lublin and Dworzec Lublin.
Flight lands late or the next public service is awkward Use ALE TAXI or Bolt The airport is outside the centre; a door-to-door ride avoids a long wait and a second transfer.
Train arrival at Lublin Główna Walk or use local bus/trolleybus from the rail-station area The station sits beside Dworzec Lublin and local transport stops, so onward movement is compact.
Coach arrival at Dworcowa 2 Treat Dworzec Lublin as the main transfer point It combines long-distance/regional buses, urban transport and rail access in one part of the city.
Ticket says Al. Tysiąclecia 6 Go to that exact stop FlixBus still lists Al. Tysiąclecia 6 separately, so do not assume every coach uses Dworcowa 2.
Short sightseeing stay Stay near Old Town / Krakowskie Przedmieście and budget one taxi or bus ride to the station The old centre is more pleasant for walking than the station area, but transport access remains easy.

Lublin Airport (LUZ)

Lublin Airport is the airport to use for Lublin itself. The airport’s passenger-facing pages give the airport address as ul. Króla Jana III Sobieskiego 1, 21-040 Świdnik, and the airport information phone as +48 81 458 1444. The registered company address is in Lublin at ul. Zesłańców Sybiru 6, but passengers should use the Świdnik airport address for maps, taxis and pickups.

The airport is about 10 km east of central Lublin. That is close enough for a taxi or Bolt to be practical, but far enough that public-transport timing changes the whole arrival experience. The most useful choices are the train, MPK bus 005, or a taxi/ride-hailing app. The airport access page says the train station is only a few steps from the check-in counters, which is unusually convenient for a regional airport.

If you are connecting onward by train or coach, aim first for the Lublin Główna / Dworzec Lublin area. If you are staying around Old Town, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Litewski Square or the castle area, a taxi or Bolt can be simpler after an evening landing because it avoids changing vehicles with luggage.

Airport To Lublin By Train

The airport access page says the train station is just a few steps from the check-in counters, and airport references describe the dedicated airport rail link to Lublin’s main station. The practical point for travellers is this: the train can be the cleanest airport transfer when it runs close to your flight time, but it should be treated as timetable-dependent rather than assumed every few minutes.

Step What to do
At the airport Follow signs to the Lublin Airport rail stop beside the terminal.
Direction Use services toward Lublin Główna when operating.
Main arrival point Get off at Lublin Główna for rail connections and the Dworzec Lublin coach/urban transport hub.
Ticket planning Use the rail operator timetable and fare shown for the specific service; city ZDiTM bus tickets are a separate system.
Backup If the train timing is poor, use bus 005, ALE TAXI or Bolt.

The airport rail connection is especially useful if you are staying by the station, catching a same-day train, or moving to the coach terminal. It is less ideal for a hotel deep in the Old Town area unless the onward local connection is easy.

Airport To Lublin By Bus 005

The airport bus page says MPK Lublin provides regular connections that allow direct travel between Dworzec Lublin and the airport. The route named there is line 005. The MPK timetable page shows line 005 serving both directions, including “Port Lotniczy Lublin – odloty 01” for airport departures and “Port Lotniczy Lublin – przyloty 02” for airport arrivals, with Dworzec Lublin at the city end.

For a visitor, bus 005 is the public-transport option to understand first:

Detail Practical note
Route MPK line 005, Dworzec Lublin – Port Lotniczy Lublin – Mełgiew direction.
Airport stops Port Lotniczy Lublin – odloty 01 and Port Lotniczy Lublin – przyloty 02.
City hub Dworzec Lublin, beside the main rail and coach transfer area.
City-centre use Good for station/coach transfers; for Old Town hotels, expect one more city ride, walk or taxi.
Ticket Use ZDiTM/MPK fare rules; for most short direct trips, a time ticket is easier than a stop-tariff ticket.

Because the route is public transport, the cheapest ticket depends on time and payment method. A 40-minute ticket at 4.00 PLN or 90-minute ticket at 4.80 PLN is often easier for visitors than trying to calculate the stop tariff with luggage. If you pay a single ride through an EMV validator, ZDiTM lists the single fare as 4.00 PLN normal and 2.00 PLN reduced.

Airport Taxi And Ride-Hailing

The airport taxi page says the recommended taxi corporation for individual passenger transport is ALE TAXI, phone +48 81 511 11 11. It also says the taxi rank is in front of the terminal on the Arrivals Hall side. Keep that phone number useful for late arrivals, app problems or when you need a larger vehicle.

Bolt operates in Lublin and lists Bolt Rides, Bolt Drive, scooters/e-bikes, Bolt Food and business services. Bolt also lists a popular trip between Lublin Main Railway Station and Lublin Airport, and states that fares are estimates that may vary with traffic, delays, discounts and other factors.

The airport pages checked for this update do not publish a fixed city-centre taxi tariff. For budgeting, plan about 55-85 PLN for a normal taxi or Bolt ride between LUZ and central Lublin or the Lublin Główna / Dworzec Lublin area. A quiet daytime ride may be lower; a late-night trip, traffic, surge pricing, child-seat request, larger car or waiting time can be higher. Before starting, compare the live Bolt quote with the airport taxi option and keep your destination written in Polish.

Lublin Główna Railway Station

Lublin Główna is the main railway station for the city and the station to use for Warsaw, Chełm, Zamość-region trips, Rzeszów/Kraków-direction services and airport rail connections when operating. Railway references place the station in the Za Cukrownią area, south of the Old Town. In practical city navigation, think of it together with Dworzec Lublin at Dworcowa Street 2, because the new coach and urban-transport hub sits next to the rail station area.

The station’s role is bigger than an ordinary local stop. It is the main rail gateway for eastern Poland, and references describe the airport rail link as connecting the airport with Lublin’s main railway station. For passengers, that means the rail station area is the safest base for early trains, airport rail/bus transfers and coach changes.

If your hotel is near Old Town, the station is not usually a scenic walk with luggage. Use a taxi/Bolt, a local bus or trolleybus. If you are changing from rail to coach, use Dworzec Lublin rather than the older Al. Tysiąclecia bus station unless your ticket specifically names Al. Tysiąclecia 6.

Dworzec Lublin And Coach Stops

Dworzec Lublin is the key coach and local transport hub beside the railway station. Its official contact page gives the address as Dworcowa Street 2, 20-406 Lublin. It lists station opening hours of 6:00-22:00, regional/national/international ticket offices open Monday-Friday 07:00-19:00 and weekends/holidays 08:00-17:00, and passenger information phone (81) 466 67 15.

The station’s “About” page describes an integrated transport centre for the Lublin Functional Area. The project scope includes 13 public-transport stands, 53 long-distance and regional bus stands, 122 parking spaces for buses and minibuses, Park&Ride, Bike&Ride and Kiss&Ride facilities, plus trolleybus and bus infrastructure. That is why the station area is now the natural place to change between rail, regional buses, long-distance coaches and city transport.

FlixBus currently lists two Lublin stops:

Stop name Address Practical note
Lublin, Bus Station Lublin ul. Dworcowa 2, 20-405 Lublin Main modern coach hub. FlixBus says buses stop at platform 11, 12 or 13; line N3222 uses platform 41.
Lublin, Dworzec Autobusowy, Al. Tysiąclecia 6 Aleja Tysiąclecia 6, 20-121 Lublin Older/separate stop still listed by FlixBus. Use only when your ticket names it.

For travellers this creates one rule: never navigate only to “bus station” in Lublin. Use the address printed on your ticket. Dworcowa 2 and Al. Tysiąclecia 6 are different places, and a wrong stop can cost more time than the bus connection itself.

Public Transport Tickets

Lublin public transport is managed by ZDiTM and operated by MPK and other carriers in the ZDiTM system. Visitors mainly use buses and trolleybuses. The Lublin City/LUBIKA tariff pages list the current time-ticket and single-ticket prices, while ZDiTM explains ticket types such as single tickets, time tickets, stop-tariff tickets in the LUBIKA app, period tickets and tourist tickets.

Ticket Standard fare Reduced fare Best use
15-minute time ticket 3.00 PLN 1.50 PLN Very short hop if you already know the route.
40-minute time ticket 4.00 PLN 2.00 PLN Most useful visitor ticket for a direct city trip or airport bus 005 if the timing fits.
90-minute time ticket 4.80 PLN 2.40 PLN Safer when you need a transfer after the station.
6-hour time ticket 8.00 PLN 4.00 PLN Good for several rides in one sightseeing block.
24-hour time ticket 13.20 PLN 6.60 PLN Best simple ticket for a full visitor day.
Single ticket via EMV validator 4.00 PLN 2.00 PLN One ride without transfer, paid in the validator.

ZDiTM’s ticket-type page explains that a single ticket is for one ride by one person on one vehicle route with no transfer. A time ticket allows multiple rides and transfers within the time printed on the ticket, counted from validation. The stop-tariff ticket is calculated in the LUBIKA app by check-in/check-out and is best left to locals or confident app users. A tourist ticket exists for tourist-card packages and can be valid for 24, 48 or 120 hours, depending on the package.

For an airport arrival, choose simplicity. If you are taking bus 005 straight to Dworzec Lublin and then walking or using a taxi, the 40-minute ticket or EMV single fare is usually easiest. If you need one more city vehicle after Dworzec Lublin, use the 90-minute ticket to avoid racing the clock.

Where To Stay For Transport

Base Best for Watch out for
Lublin Główna / Dworzec Lublin Early trains, airport train/bus, long-distance coaches, one-night transit Practical rather than romantic; Old Town is not right outside the station doors.
Old Town / Krakowskie Przedmieście / Plac Litewski First visit, restaurants, walking, culture Budget a taxi/Bolt or a bus/trolleybus ride for station and airport transfers.
Airport / Świdnik side Very early flight, airport-side business, rental car Weak choice for sightseeing unless the stay is flight-focused.
Al. Tysiąclecia / castle side Ticket-specific coach departures and northern edge of the centre Confirm whether your coach uses Al. Tysiąclecia 6 or Dworcowa 2.
University / west Lublin Longer stays, hospitals/university trips, local errands Airport and coach transfers may require a cross-city ride.

For most visitors, Old Town or Krakowskie Przedmieście is the better first base. For transport-heavy trips, choose the Lublin Główna / Dworzec Lublin area. For a same-day flight, train and coach chain, the station area saves the most stress.
