If You Fly Into YUL

YUL is the airport most Sherbrooke visitors should plan around. It has the international and domestic airline network, rental cars, taxis, airport buses and onward connections. From YUL, Sherbrooke is not a quick airport-city ride; it is a regional transfer of roughly 150-170 km, depending on route and final address.

Budget travellers usually compare airport-to-Montreal transfer plus Limocar from Montreal to Sherbrooke. Limocar says its express line runs the Montreal-Sherbrooke axis in about 2 hours, and its main site says the network serves 25 municipalities across the Eastern Townships and Montreal with around 30 departures each day. Rome2Rio’s YUL-Sherbrooke page describes Limocar from Sherbrooke/Terminus to Montreal every few hours, with tickets around CAD 35-45 and a journey around 2h45 in its example. For an airport arrival, add the airport-to-Montreal bus-terminal step and waiting time.

If the flight lands late, if you have ski gear, family luggage or a hotel outside downtown Sherbrooke, price a direct car. Uber’s Sherbrooke-to-Dorval route page gives an average price cue of about CAD 295 for that long transfer, while Ridebooker-style private-transfer listings can be much higher, with sample YUL-Sherbrooke car quotes around CAD 759. If You Use Sherbrooke Airport YSC

Sherbrooke Airport is real and locally important. It is in Cookshire-Eaton, east/northeast of the city, not in downtown Sherbrooke.

For an ordinary visitor booking airline tickets, YSC should be treated as a general-aviation / charter / business-aircraft airport, not as the first scheduled-airline choice. If you are arriving there by private aircraft or charter, arrange taxi, rental car or pickup in advance. Do not expect a YUL-style airport bus, taxi queue or late-night public transit chain.

If You Arrive By Limocar

Limocar is the cleanest intercity bus layer for Sherbrooke. Its contact page lists 60, King West Street, Sherbrooke, Quebec J1H 1P3, with customer service 1-819-562-8899 and toll-free 1-866-692-8899. The same operator’s network pages focus on the Montreal-Sherbrooke axis, with express and local lines.

Arriving at King West is convenient for downtown, Lac des Nations, central hotels and STS/taxi continuation. Montréal Saint-Hubert (YHU) is geographically closer than YUL in some searches, but it is not automatically the best visitor airport. Use it only if your airline actually lands there and ground transport makes sense. Québec City (YQB) can work for a broader Quebec itinerary, but it is not a natural Sherbrooke airport unless the trip continues toward Quebec City or the fare is much better.

YSC To Sherbrooke

If you are arriving at Sherbrooke Airport, arrange pickup before landing. The airport is outside the city, and a normal visitor should not assume a frequent bus connection. Taxi or rental car is the practical layer.

Limocar / Transdev

Limocar is the main name to know. The operator’s site says it serves the Eastern Townships and Montreal, and its network page says the express line has 12 buses every day on the Montreal-Sherbrooke line, with an approximate 2-hour express trip. Its main page also highlights around 30 departures daily across the network, free Wi-Fi on board and online ticket purchase.

Use Limocar for:

• Montreal to Sherbrooke.
• Sherbrooke to Montreal.
• Bromont / Eastern Townships corridor stops where listed.
• Students and downtown travellers who do not need a car.
• YUL trips when the Montreal transfer and schedule line up.

Check the exact boarding point before travel. “Montreal” can mean a central terminal or a stop that still requires transit from YUL. “Sherbrooke” usually points to the King West terminal area, but route details should be checked on the day.

Regional Connections

Sherbrooke is the centre of Estrie, but many regional destinations are not simple bus-terminal-to-door trips. Magog, Orford, Bromont, Coaticook, Lennoxville, North Hatley and rural inns may need a car or pickup. Limocar can solve the Montreal-Sherbrooke spine; it does not solve every lake, mountain or village stay.

Local STS Bus System

For a normal visitor, STS is best for downtown, university areas, shopping corridors and daytime movement. It is weaker for late-night transfers, rural hotels, airport transfers and luggage-heavy trips.

Useful STS Planning Logic

Choose STS when the origin and destination are both inside the city bus grid. Use taxi/Uber when:

• The trip is late.
• The hotel is outside the bus corridor.
• You have luggage.
• You are connecting from Limocar to Lennoxville or a suburban hotel.
• The weather is bad.
• You need to reach YSC, Magog, Orford or a rural inn.

Rail Reality

Sherbrooke is historically a rail city, but not a practical passenger-rail destination today. Do not build a visitor itinerary around arriving by VIA Rail into Sherbrooke. If the trip starts by train from Toronto, Ottawa or Quebec City, use VIA Rail into Montreal or another served city, then continue by Limocar, rental car or private transfer.
