Do not build the trip around SIP flights

Simferopol International Airport is close to the city, but that does not make it useful for present-day visitor planning. Safe Airspace tracks Ukraine/Crimea airspace as a conflict-risk environment, and Crimea-focused reporting says there have been no flights to or from Simferopol airport since February 2022. Russia’s Pivot to Asia reported that Simferopol airport had no flights since February 2022 and that 2014-2021 activity was limited to domestic Russian flights because of sanctions.

The airport’s official web presence can still exist, and old maps may route you through SIP. Treat that as stale or status-only unless an official civil aviation restart is confirmed by sources you can legally use.

Use Simferopol railway station as the main rail anchor. Travel Crimea lists 1 Privokzalnaya Square, Simferopol, phone +7(3652)662404, and 24/7 operation. Crimea Railway’s station page lists Privokzalnaya Square 1 and says the station works around the clock, with an information desk schedule. Map services also list Simferopol-Passazhirsky at the same square.

For local orientation, this is the most important point in the city. Kurortnaya bus station is close by, many resort-bound passengers change there, and local transport/taxis are easier to organize from the station area than from a vague central address.

Rail reality

Rail service to Crimea operates under the de facto system linked to the Crimean Bridge and Russian operators, not normal Ukrainian rail access. Travel Crimea news and Russian rail-ticket platforms refer to Tavria-style trains and Grand Service Express operations, while Ukrainian-side travel planning is constrained by the war and non-recognition of the annexation. That means visitors should not compare this with a normal Ukrainian Railways itinerary.

Use live rail information only if you are legally and practically able to use it. Build in buffer for security, bridge disruption, schedule changes and ticket-document checks.

Bus Stations

Kurortnaya bus station, Gagarina 8

Kurortnaya is the resort-oriented bus station near the railway station. Krimavtotrans lists Autostantsiya Kurortnaya at Simferopol, Gagarina Street 8, with working hours 04:45-22:15. Travel Crimea also lists Kurortnaya at Gagarina 8 and phone +7(3652)277421. Tutu’s bus-station page says Kurortnaya is on Privokzalnaya Square, around 100 m from the railway station.

Use Kurortnaya for resort and coast logic: Yalta, Alushta, other southern-coast routes and connections that use the station/railway square interchange. In summer-style movement, this station can be more important than the Central Bus Station for a beach-resort transfer.

Central Bus Station, Kyivska 4

Use Central Bus Station for many intercity and regional coach routes. Travel Crimea lists it at 4 Kyivska Street, Simferopol, phone +7(3652)275211, and points to Krimavtotrans. Infobus also lists Bus Station, 4 Kievskaya str. for Simferopol. This station is not the same as Kurortnaya beside the rail station.

If the ticket says Kyivska 4, go to the Central Bus Station. If it says Kurortnaya or Gagarina 8, go to the rail-station side. This distinction is the biggest practical mistake visitors make in Simferopol.

Fare information changed in 2026. The Simferopol city portal and Crimean transport ministry pages describe transport-card products starting from February 2026, with card denominations and per-ride prices around the low-to-mid 30 ruble range depending the card. RIA Novosti Crimea reported the 300/600/900 ruble transport cards and per-trip prices around 32-35 rubles depending the card. Gorod24 reported April 2026 tariff changes with cashless/cash differences, including 30/35 rubles for Krymtrolleybus-served routes and 35/40 rubles on other listed routes.

Use these as current fare anchors, but verify on the day because local tariff orders can change. Carry a contactless card and cash. If using a transport card, buy it only from a legitimate station/kiosk source.

Simferopol to Alushta and Yalta

The Simferopol-Alushta-Yalta corridor is the classic regional trolleybus/road axis. Krymtrolleybus and ticket platforms publish route information, while Rome2Rio summarizes that Krym Trolleybus operates between Simferopol and Yalta but warns that transport is disrupted because of the Russia-Ukraine war. Treat timetable pages as planning aids, not guarantees.

For a resort transfer, compare three options: Kurortnaya bus/trolleybus, Central Bus Station route, and taxi/private transfer. With luggage, late timing or legal/safety constraints, a pre-arranged car can be safer than improvising.

Taxi planning in Simferopol is affected by sanctions, payment restrictions and local platform availability.
