Radom Transport Hub

Radom is one of the easiest Polish regional cities to misread from a transport map. It has its own commercial airport, Warsaw Radom Airport (RDO/EPRA), but the airport is not a giant all-day hub like Warsaw Chopin. It is close to the city, though, so an arriving RDO passenger has a very different problem from someone landing at WAW or WMI and continuing south to Radom. Inside the city, long-distance trains and most coaches concentrate around the Radom Główny station district, while local movement is handled by MZDiK city buses rather than a metro or tram network.

The practical plan is simple: use RDO when your ticket says RDO, connect it to the centre on MZDiK lines 5 or 14, and use a short taxi or Bolt ride when luggage or timing makes the bus inconvenient. For rail, search Radom Główny first. For coaches, read the exact FlixBus stop name because Radom has a main bus-station stop and two additional city stops. If you are comparing flights, Radom can also work through Warsaw Chopin or Warsaw Modlin, but those are intercity moves, not city transfers.

Best Arrival Strategy

Arrival situation Best first move Why it works
Flight ticket says RDO Use MZDiK bus 5/14 or a short taxi/Bolt to the centre The airport is city-side, so a private ride is not an expensive intercity transfer.
Flight ticket says WAW or WMI Treat the trip as Warsaw-to-Radom by rail/coach Warsaw airports are much farther away and should not be priced like Radom airport.
Train arrival Search and arrive at Radom Główny It is the main rail station and sits beside the coach-stop district.
FlixBus arrival Read the exact stop name on the ticket Radom Bus Station, Dw. Główny PKP/Poczta 02 and Warszawska Rondo are different stops.
Late-night local trip Price Bolt and official taxi contacts before leaving the terminal or station Night lines exist, but luggage and timing often make a car ride cleaner.
Two-day city stay Stay near Radom Główny, Żeromskiego or the centre You get easy rail, coach, airport bus and walkable restaurant access.

Radom is bus-first locally. MZDiK lists only bus routes: day lines 1 through 27 plus 76, and night buses N1, N2 and N3. There is no metro, and a visitor should not expect the tram-style networks found in other Polish cities. The benefit is simplicity: a handful of bus corridors connect the airport, station district, centre and outer districts.

Warsaw Radom Airport (RDO)

Warsaw Radom Airport is the city airport for Radom. The official name is Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom im. Bohaterów Radomskiego Czerwca 1976, and the airport uses RDO as the IATA code and EPRA as the ICAO code. The airport contact page gives the terminal address as ul. Prof. Tadeusza Sołtyka 1, 26-603 Radom, while the footer on the airport site uses ul. Prof. Tadeusza Sołtyka 1, 26-600 Radom. For traveller use, the street and airport name are the key parts; taxi and map apps recognise the terminal.

The airport is close to central Radom. Aviation references place it about 3 km east of Radom city centre, and the dataset used for this article measured 4.9 km from the city point. That distance is why Radom airport transfers should not be planned like Katowice-Częstochowa or Warsaw-Lodz rides. A public bus can be genuinely useful, and a taxi to the central station district is a short urban ride in normal traffic.

The airport’s own transport page confirms the important traveller details. Access to the airport area is from Al. Wojska Polskiego and ul. Prof. Tadeusza Sołtyka. The page lists the airport bus stop Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01 for lines 5 and 14, says city buses run every 40 minutes at weekends, and notes that ticket machines are located at the departure stands and in the Kiss & Fly zone. The same transport page says trains can bring passengers from many Polish cities to Radom Główny, where direct city buses 5 and 14 continue to Warsaw-Radom Airport.

The contact page and footer give +48 48 378 7171 as the airport infoline, with hours shown as 04:00-00:00. The transport page also shows airport opening hours as 06:00-22:00. For a late or early flight, use the current flight page and airline communication as the final timing source, because small regional airports can adjust terminal access around scheduled operations.

Airport To Radom Centre

For most RDO arrivals, the decision is between bus and taxi/app ride. The airport is close enough that either can be sensible.

Option How to use it Best for Watch out for
MZDiK bus 5 Board at Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01 or the terminal bay Cheapest link to Radom Główny and central stops Current stop times matter, especially evenings and weekends.
MZDiK bus 14 Same airport stop area as line 5 Alternative direct city route between airport and station/centre Route variations and temporary changes should be checked on MZDiK.
Taxi rank / airport taxi partners Use the signed taxi area; airport page lists partner contacts Luggage, families, short hotel transfer, late arrivals Confirm destination and approximate price before leaving.
Bolt Order in app after checking pickup point and fare App-based price comparison and card payment Driver supply can fluctuate around flight arrivals.
FREE NOW Airport taxi page links FREE NOW app download App-based taxi ordering if active at the airport Compare the quote with local taxi and Bolt before confirming.
Rental car Use only if you will drive outside Radom Villages, business parks, Sandomierz/Kazimierz-type touring City-centre parking can be less convenient than buses/taxis.

The bus is the clean value option. MZDiK’s distribution page lists stationary ticket machines at Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01 and at Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom in the bay in front of the terminal, so you do not have to rely only on a kiosk. The same page says mobile tickets are available around the clock, and that in-bus validators sell 1-hour and daily tickets. If you simply need to reach the station district, buy a valid MZDiK ticket and use line 5 or 14.

If you have luggage, a short taxi may still be worth it. The road distance from the terminal to Radom Główny is only a few kilometres, and the route normally runs through the eastern side of the city. In normal traffic, plan about 10-20 minutes to Radom Główny or a central hotel. Add time around events, road works and airport peaks.

If you are not flying to RDO, do not copy this plan. Warsaw Chopin and Warsaw Modlin require a long-distance connection to Radom. FlixBus lists Radom-Warsaw Airport and Radom-Modlin Airport routes among popular options, and rail via Warsaw can also work. A direct taxi from WAW or WMI to Radom is possible but expensive enough that it should be treated as a private transfer, not a city taxi.

Using Airport Buses 5 And 14

Lines 5 and 14 are the backbone of the public airport transfer. The airport page links both lines from the stop Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01, and MZDiK lists both lines in the normal city timetable. The important point for visitors is that these are ordinary city buses, not a premium airport shuttle. Use the same MZDiK fare system as the rest of Radom.

When arriving at RDO, leave the terminal toward the signed bus/taxi/parking area and look for the terminal bus bay or Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01. The airport transport page says ticket machines are located at the departure stands and in the Kiss & Fly zone, and MZDiK’s ticket-sales page separately lists ticket machines at both Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01 and Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom in the bay in front of the terminal. This is unusually helpful for a small airport because it gives a first-time traveller a real ticket option before boarding.

For a simple ride to the station district, a 3.60 PLN normal single ticket is usually enough if you are not transferring. If you are unsure whether you will change buses, buy the 5.00 PLN 1-hour ticket instead. The price difference is small, and it protects you if you get off one stop too early or need to continue beyond Radom Główny. A 14.00 PLN 24-hour ticket makes sense only if you plan several city-bus rides the same day.

When travelling from the city to the airport, start from the Radom Główny/Traugutta/pl. Dworcowy area and search lines 5 or 14 toward the airport/Sadków direction in MZDiK, JakDojade, Google, myBus or mobileMPK. Do not simply board the first 5 or 14 without checking direction; route branches and temporary changes can matter. MZDiK’s timetable page uses visual warnings for changed routes, and the site specifically tells users to refresh schedules when line changes are in place.

For luggage, use judgement. MZDiK says all lines are served by low-floor buses adapted for wheelchair users, which helps with rolling bags, strollers and step-free boarding. Still, a full bus after a flight can be awkward. If you are carrying several bags or travelling with children, a 25-45 PLN taxi/Bolt may be a better use of time than trying to save the full fare difference.

Airport Taxi Cost

For RDO to Radom centre, use 25-45 PLN as a practical planning range in normal conditions. The lower end fits a short, quiet-time ride to the eastern or central part of Radom; the upper end leaves room for station-area routing, night demand, luggage, waiting time or a hotel farther from the centre. This is a planning range, not a fixed public tariff. Always check the meter/app estimate before the car leaves.

The official airport transport page gives useful taxi signals even though it does not publish a city-centre fixed fare. It says the spaces closest to the terminal in Kiss & Fly are reserved for TAXI vehicles cooperating with Warsaw-Radom Airport. In the taxi section, the airport page links FREE NOW and displays contact numbers including +48 785 065 001, +48 794 500 550 and +48 665 800 000. That means an arriving passenger has both app and phone-order options directly referenced by the airport.

Bolt’s Radom page confirms Bolt Rides availability in the city and lists everyday Bolt rides, scooter service and business options. Bolt also notes that fares are estimates and can vary with traffic, delays, discounts and other factors. For a short airport-centre hop, compare the Bolt quote with the airport taxi queue. When flights arrive in a batch, it can be worth checking again after a few minutes rather than accepting a high first quote.

Railway Stations

Radom Główny is the main station to search first. The PKP PLK Passenger Portal lists the station as Radom Główny with address BELINY PRAŻMOWSKIEGO 6, 26-600 Radom and GPS coordinates 51.3909661, 21.1553453. For travellers, that official station page is the address anchor; use the live rail planner for departures because operators and stopping patterns can change by timetable period.

In practical city terms, Radom Główny is the anchor of the transport hub. It sits beside the main coach-station district and the FlixBus Dw. Główny PKP/Poczta 02 stop. The MZDiK network also makes the station area a strong interchange: the ticket distribution page lists a 24-hour ticket machine at Dw. Główny PKP / pl. Dworcowy 01, while the airport transport page explicitly says city buses 5 and 14 run directly from Radom Główny toward Warsaw-Radom Airport.

Do not worry if you see slightly different station address wording across sources. Some traveller-facing references use plac Dworcowy, while the current PKP PLK Passenger Portal uses Beliny Prażmowskiego 6. They describe the same station area. For a taxi/app ride, Radom Główny usually works better than trying to type a street by hand.

Radom Wschodni is worth knowing but should not replace Radom Główny for most visitors. MZDiK’s ticket machine list includes stops named Żeromskiego / PKP Radom Wschodni 06 and 07, confirming it as an active local public-transport point. Aviation references describe the new Radom Wschodni rail/road node as close to the airport corridor, but for ordinary city arrivals the clearest public instruction remains: arrive at Radom Główny and use lines 5 or 14 to the airport unless your rail planner specifically sends you elsewhere.

Bus And Coach Stations

Radom’s long-distance coach picture is more stop-based than terminal-based. FlixBus lists three Radom stops and warns that the ticket contains the most up-to-date address information. Read the stop field on the ticket before arranging pickup.

Coach stop Address Practical use
Radom, Bus Station ul. B. Prażmowskiego 8, 26-600 Radom, Platform 1 Main coach station stop, best for rail-coach transfers.
Radom, Dw. Główny PKP/ Poczta 02 Władysława Beliny-Prażmowskiego 2, 26-610 Radom City bus stop by the main railway station/post office area.
Radom ul. Warszawska Rondo ul. Warszawska, 26-605 Radom Northern stop; FlixBus notes Warszawska/Rondo 09 toward Rzeszów/Przemyśl and 10 toward Warsaw/Modlin.

The main bus-station stop is the one most visitors expect when they say “Radom bus station”. It is on ul. B. Prażmowskiego 8, platform 1, and is close enough to Radom Główny to function as part of the same transport district. That makes it the best default for onward trains, station-area hotels and city buses.

The Dw. Główny PKP/Poczta 02 stop is also station-side, but it is not the same as the formal bus-station platform. It can be more convenient for certain through services or urban transfers. The Warszawska Rondo stop is a different northern approach point and is most useful when the route direction makes it logical, especially toward Warsaw/Modlin or south/east routes shown by the operator.

FlixBus lists popular Radom routes including Warsaw, Warsaw Airport, Modlin Airport, Kraków, Kielce, Lublin, Gdańsk and international destinations. For airport comparisons, the important point is that Warsaw Airport and Modlin Airport are coach-searchable from Radom. That gives travellers an alternative when RDO’s flight schedule does not fit.

MZDiK Public Transport

MZDiK is the local transport authority and road/public-transport manager for Radom. Its contact details are ul. Traugutta 30/30A, 26-610 Radom, phone 48 365 46 52 and email sekretariat@mzdik.pl. For visitors, MZDiK matters most because it controls the city bus network, airport lines, ticket prices and ticket-sale points.

The MZDiK timetable page lists day bus lines 1-27 plus 76, and night lines N1, N2 and N3. Lines 5 and 14 are the airport lines you need to know. The timetable page also says all lines are operated by low-floor buses adapted for wheelchair users. It links to journey-planning tools including myBus, Google, JakDojade and mobileMPK, which are useful for checking live stop times in a city where road works can change routes.

There is no metro in Radom. There is also no tram network. If a hotel page or old guide suggests “metro-style” movement, ignore it and plan around buses, walking and short taxi/app rides. For most visitors, the relevant MZDiK stops are the airport terminal stops, Dw. Główny PKP / pl. Dworcowy, Dw. Główny PKP / Traugutta and central stops around Żeromskiego.

Night buses N1, N2 and N3 use the same ticket prices as day lines according to the fare page. That is useful after late trains or coaches, but the timetable is still the main constraint. If the next night bus is far away and you have luggage, a 25-45 PLN taxi may be the more practical choice.

Tickets And Payment

MZDiK’s fare page states that the current city-fare table applies from 24 October 2024 and references a March 2026 city council resolution. The core visitor fares are straightforward:

Ticket type Normal fare Reduced fare Traveller use
Single ticket, all lines 3.60 PLN 1.80 PLN One simple ride, including airport lines 5/14.
1-hour ticket, all lines 5.00 PLN 2.50 PLN Best for transfers or uncertain stop count.
24-hour ticket, all lines 14.00 PLN 7.00 PLN Good for a full sightseeing day with several bus rides.
10 single-ticket carnet 33.00 PLN 16.50 PLN Useful for a group or longer stay if buying paper tickets.
Monthly one-line pass 80.00 PLN 40.00 PLN Local commuter use, rarely needed by visitors.
Monthly all-lines pass 99.00 PLN 49.50 PLN Long stay or frequent local movement.
15-day all-lines pass 58.00 PLN 29.00 PLN Short work stay or extended visit.
90-day all-lines pass 280.00 PLN 140.00 PLN Resident-style use.

MZDiK confirms that the same prices apply on night lines N1, N2 and N3. It also states that the same fares apply outside Radom on inter-municipal lines 5, 6, 14, 15, 18, 22, 23, 24, 26 and 27 in the listed partner municipalities. That matters because the airport lines are in the same fare family rather than a premium airport fare.

Ticket buying is practical at the transport nodes. MZDiK lists official sales points at Traugutta 30/30A, Traugutta 2 by Dw. Główny PKP / Traugutta 02, Malczewskiego 15 and Limanowskiego 74. It also lists 24-hour stationary ticket machines at Dw. Główny PKP / pl. Dworcowy 01, Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01, Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom in the terminal bus bay, Żeromskiego / PKP Radom Wschodni 06 and 07, and several other stops.

For mobile tickets, MZDiK lists GoPay, moBiLET, mPay, SkyCash and zBiletem. The distribution page says mobile tickets are available around the clock and include single, 1-hour and daily tickets. In-bus validators offer 1-hour and daily tickets, while one-time fares in the validator are paid from the electronic purse on the Radom City Card. If you are a short-term visitor and do not have the city card, the simplest approach is a ticket machine or mobile app.

The Radom City Card is more relevant to residents and longer stays. It can hold period tickets and an electronic purse, and the fare table includes a cheaper two-stop electronic-purse option when the passenger registers exit from the bus. For most visitors, that is too much setup for too little saving. Use the card only if you are staying long enough to benefit from period tickets or if you already have one through local work/study arrangements.

Reduced fares in Poland depend on legal eligibility, not on a tourist’s age alone. Students, seniors and children may need Polish or accepted documents. If you are not certain your document qualifies, buy a normal ticket. The cost difference on a Radom single ticket is small compared with the inconvenience of a fare-control penalty.

Taxis, FREE NOW And Bolt

Radom has several taxi-style options, and the right one depends on where you are standing. At RDO, start with the official airport taxi area, the FREE NOW link on the airport taxi page, or a Bolt quote. At Radom Główny and the coach-station district, Bolt and local taxis are both realistic. Around residential districts late at night, ordering by app is usually easier than searching for a rank.

The airport transport page provides three useful taxi phone numbers in the taxi section: +48 785 065 001, +48 794 500 550 and +48 665 800 000. It also says taxi spaces closest to the terminal are reserved for TAXI vehicles cooperating with the airport. This is the airport’s way of steering travellers toward authorised vehicles rather than random roadside offers.

Bolt’s city page says Bolt Rides is available in Radom and lists regular Bolt ride service for 1-4 passengers, Protect rides for 1-2 passengers and scooter service. It also lists popular trips that include Radom Train station, Main Railway Station and Port Lotniczy Warszawa-Radom. Use those signals as evidence that the service covers the transport nodes, but still treat the in-app price as the real price.

For short urban rides, these planning ranges are realistic:

Trip Planning range Notes
RDO airport to Radom Główny 25-45 PLN Main airport-centre planning range; check live quote.
RDO airport to central hotel around Żeromskiego 25-45 PLN Similar distance unless hotel is far west/north.
Radom Główny to Warszawska Rondo stop 20-35 PLN Useful if a coach uses the northern stop.
Radom Główny to outer districts 25-60 PLN Depends heavily on district and traffic.
WAW or WMI airport to Radom Several hundred PLN Treat as a private intercity transfer; compare rail/coach first.

Poland uses PLN, and local taxi prices should be discussed in PLN. Avoid quoting or asking drivers in euros or dollars for city rides. For app rides, confirm pickup point, destination spelling and number of passengers before you order.

Warsaw Airport Alternatives

RDO is convenient when the schedule fits, but it does not offer the same route depth as Warsaw Chopin or Warsaw Modlin. A good Radom transport guide has to say this plainly: if the flight you need does not exist from RDO, compare WAW and WMI early rather than forcing an awkward itinerary.

Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) is the main full-service Warsaw airport. From WAW to Radom, compare three routes: direct FlixBus when available, rail via Warsaw’s main rail nodes, and private transfer. FlixBus lists Warsaw Airport-Radom and Radom-Warsaw Airport among popular Radom routes, which makes the coach worth checking first. For rail, you normally move from the airport into Warsaw’s rail network and continue south to Radom Główny. This can be efficient, but the transfer inside Warsaw adds stress if you have a tight margin.

Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI) is farther north of Warsaw and is mainly useful when the airline price or route is much better. FlixBus lists Modlin Airport-Radom and Radom-Modlin Airport among route options. If the direct coach does not match your flight, you may need to connect via Warsaw or Modlin rail/bus links. That can still be cheaper than a private transfer, but it is a longer day.

A taxi or private car from WAW or WMI to Radom is a different category from an RDO taxi. RDO to centre is a short city ride. Warsaw airport to Radom is an intercity transfer of roughly 100 km or more depending on airport and route. For a solo traveller, coach or rail will usually be the rational choice. For a family, a late arrival or a business group with luggage, a pre-booked transfer can be worth the price, but get the quote in writing and make sure it names the correct airport code.

The booking rule is to keep airport codes visible until the trip is finished. RDO, WAW and WMI are all plausible in search results around Radom, but they create completely different ground-transport plans.

Practical Route Recipes

Route Best practical plan
RDO airport to Radom Główny Take MZDiK 5 or 14 from Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01, or use a 25-45 PLN taxi/Bolt if bags or timing matter.
RDO airport to a central hotel Try bus 5/14 if the hotel is near the station/central corridor; otherwise price taxi/Bolt at arrivals.
Radom Główny to airport Use MZDiK 5 or 14 from the station-area stops; allow extra time because weekend frequency can be thinner.
FlixBus to train If arriving at Radom, Bus Station or Dw. Główny PKP/Poczta 02, walk or make a short hop to Radom Główny.
Warszawska Rondo stop to centre Use a city bus if convenient; otherwise price Bolt/taxi because this stop is away from the main station district.
Warsaw Chopin to Radom Compare direct FlixBus, train via Warsaw and private transfer; do not price it as a local airport ride.
Warsaw Modlin to Radom Check FlixBus Modlin Airport-Radom first, then rail/coach via Warsaw if timing is poor.
Radom city sightseeing Base around Żeromskiego/centre and use buses for longer hops; many central errands are walkable.

The airport bus is the key visitor route. Lines 5 and 14 connect RDO with Radom’s normal public-transport network, and the airport itself points travellers from Radom Główny to those direct city buses. If your flight arrives when the next bus is soon, the bus is almost always the best value. If the next bus is far away, a short app ride is not financially painful compared with bigger Polish airport transfers.

Where To Stay For Transport

For a first Radom visit, the easiest base is near Radom Główny, Żeromskiego or the central pedestrian/commercial area. This keeps you close to rail, the main coach station, airport buses 5/14 and a realistic taxi/Bolt pickup zone. It also reduces the risk that a late arrival turns into a complicated local transfer.

Station-district hotels work best for travellers arriving by rail or coach, or anyone with an early airport departure. The area around Radom Główny and ul. B. Prażmowskiego is functional rather than scenic, but it is the most practical interchange area. If you choose this base, check whether your coach stop is Radom, Bus Station or Dw. Główny PKP/Poczta 02, because both are close but not identical.

Central/Żeromskiego hotels are better for restaurants, walking and a more city-like stay. You will still be close enough to use a short taxi to the station and to catch buses toward the airport. This is the best compromise for travellers who are not only passing through.

Airport-side accommodation is usually only worth considering for operational reasons: very early departure, business near Sadkow, airport work, or an event at the airfield. For normal tourism, stay in the centre and use the short airport transfer when needed.

Common Mistakes

The first mistake is assuming “Warsaw Radom Airport” means Warsaw. It does not. RDO is in Radom, close to Radom centre, and can be reached on city buses. Warsaw Chopin and Warsaw Modlin are separate airports much farther away.

The second mistake is treating all coach stops as the same place. FlixBus lists Radom, Bus Station at ul. B. Prażmowskiego 8, Dw. Główny PKP/Poczta 02 at Władysława Beliny-Prażmowskiego 2, and Warszawska Rondo on ul. Warszawska. They are not interchangeable when you are meeting someone or booking a taxi.

The third mistake is looking for a metro. Radom does not have one. Use MZDiK buses, rail for regional trips and taxi/app rides for late or luggage-heavy gaps.

The fourth mistake is buying the wrong ticket type in the bus validator. MZDiK says in-bus validators offer 1-hour and daily tickets, and that one-time fares through the validator are paid from the electronic purse on the Radom City Card. Visitors without the city card should use a ticket machine or phone app for single tickets.

The fifth mistake is leaving airport transport until the last minute when arriving outside normal daytime patterns. The airport is close, so the problem is not distance; the problem is whether bus 5 or 14 is coming soon, and whether app supply is healthy after your flight.

FAQ

Which airport should I use for Radom?

Use Warsaw Radom Airport (RDO/EPRA) when your flight ticket says RDO. It is the Radom city airport at ul. Prof. Tadeusza Sołtyka 1 and is only a few kilometres east of the centre. If the ticket says WAW or WMI, plan an intercity transfer from Warsaw to Radom instead.

How do I get from Warsaw Radom Airport to Radom centre?

Use MZDiK bus line 5 or 14 from Lotnisko Warszawa-Radom 01 or the terminal bus bay, or take a taxi/Bolt/FREE NOW ride if you have luggage or the bus timing is poor. The airport has ticket machines by the stands and Kiss & Fly zone.

How much is a taxi from RDO airport to Radom centre?

Plan roughly 25-45 PLN in normal conditions for RDO to Radom Główny or a central hotel. This is a planning range, not a fixed tariff; check the meter or app estimate before starting the trip.

Where is Radom main train station?

The main station is Radom Główny. PKP PLK’s Passenger Portal lists the address as BELINY PRAŻMOWSKIEGO 6, 26-600 Radom, and it is the best default station for rail arrivals.

Where is Radom bus station?
